Hard Maple (Acer saccharum) is one of North America's most prized and resilient hardwoods, celebrated for its exceptional durability and fine aesthetic qualities. The sapwood is characteristically a creamy white with a very slight reddish-brown tinge, while the heartwood displays richer color variations, ranging from light to dark reddish-brown. Architecturally, Hard Maple presents a close, fine, uniform texture and is generally straight-grained, giving it a clean, sophisticated appearance. Beyond its beauty, Hard Maple is notably hard and heavy with excellent mechanical properties, offering good strength and, in particular, a remarkably high resistance to abrasion and wear (scoring high on the Janka hardness scale). This makes it the superior choice for high-traffic applications like flooring, butcher blocks, and demanding furniture. We maintain this standard of excellence by using only the higher quality grades of Hard Maple lumber for our products, ensuring maximum consistency, density, and performance.
