OSMO Polyx-Oil Raw

Osmo Polyx-Oil 3051 Raw is designed to retain an untreated appearance on light colored woods such as Oak, Ash, Birch and Maple. Neutralizes the permanent ‘wet-look’ that develops after the application of a clear oil-basedfinish and keeps the wood looking raw and untreated. Based on natural vegetable oils and waxes.

OSMO TopOil Food-Safe Hardwax-Oil

Osmo TopOil High Solid is a Food-safe Hardwax-oil wood finish which is extremely tough and hard wearing. It is water repellent and dirt resistant as well as resistant to wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juices, milk and water. These types of liquid spillages will tightly bead on the surface without leaving any marks, simply clean by wiping with a cloth.

OSMO Wood Wax

For Dark & Exotic Woods

Wood Wax Finish, clear extra thin wood finish for dark hardwoods and exotic lumber provides a clear, satin wood finish designed for exotic and oily wood species. Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin is resistant to water and dirt, is very durable and smoothens wood surfaces. Meets the wood’s natural demands: it is microporous and does not crack, flake, peel, or blister. Resistant against wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk, and water in accordance with industrial norms. When dry, the finish is safe for humans, animals, and plants and is suitable for children’s toys, and fast to perspiration and saliva.

OSMO Decking Oil

Natural oil based protective finish for exterior wood that does not peel, crack, flake or blister. Microporous, breathable finish allowing the wood to breath and reduces the risk of swelling and shrinkage. Water-repellent, extremely weather and UV resistant. Easy to apply as well as renew, no sanding or primer necessary. When dry, the finish is safe for humans, animals and plants and is suitable for children’s toys as per EN 71.3 (European norm).

Polymerized Tung Oil - Original

The first polymerized tung oil wood finish product that Sutherland Welles Ltd.® ever formulated uses the highest quality Tung Oil, sustainably grown and processed. Original/Interior Polymerized Tung Oil creates the finest hand-rubbed, tung oil finish (can also be applied with brush) that will enhance the grain definition of your wood, while maintaining its color, without the use of volatile organic compounds (VOC exempt).

Polymerized Tung Oil - Med Lustre

Sutherland Welles Ltd.® Original/Interior Polymerized Tung Oil Medium Lustre is an excellent choice to obtain a semi-gloss sheen for your interior wood finishing projects.

For most wood species, four coats creates a medium luster finish. Original/Interior Polymerized Tung Oil Medium Lustre contains more tung oil than our low lustre, the amount of tung oil in Original/Interior Polymerized Tung Oil creates the luster, while also offering higher protection.

Murdoch’s Hard Sealer

Sutherland Welles Ltd.® Murdoch’s Hard Sealer is our most versatile (and POPULAR!) finish.
It’s used as a primer for our Murdoch’s Hard Oil, Table Top, & Uralkyd 500 Floor Finish topcoats or as a stand-alone finish with sheens ranging from satin to gloss, depending on number of coats applied. The combination of urethane alkyd, Polymerized Tung Oil, and a blend of our petroleum based & Di-Citrusol solvents enhance grain definition in the wood and offers a durable, beautiful finish.

Murdoch’s Hard Sealer can be used as a standalone finish for a variety of projects. The Hard Sealer penetrates deep in the wood pore to deliver the Polymerized Tung Oil which provides beautiful grain definition and fills the wood pore. It has the flexibility of being used as a brush-on surface finish or can be hand-wiped to lower the sheen.

Murdoch’s Hard Oil

Sutherland Welles Ltd.® Murdoch’s Hard Oil is a polymerized tung oil-resin hybrid finish with a higher resin content for great interior topcoat protection.

Murdoch’s Hard Oil contains a higher percentage of resin than Murdoch’s Hard Sealer, offering more protection and durability and can be used as wiping topcoat over our Murdoch’s Hard Sealer.

For most projects, the process starts with the Murdoch’s Hard Sealer as the base coats followed by two coats of the Murdoch’s Hard Oil. The entire process can be applied via a wiping technique which keeps the sheen lower and is perfect when finishing in a very dusty environment.

The higher resin content in the Murdoch’s Hard Oil topcoat will provide more protection to the surface than if using the Murdoch’s Hard Sealer alone.

The higher resin content of our Murdoch’s Hard Oil makes it suitable as a wiping topcoat and keeps the grain appearance as minimal as possible for processes such as pickling. Pickling wood requires some degree of grain blocking to minimize the tone of the wood coming through the white pickling agent, Murdoch’s Hard Oil doesn’t create too much of a barrier to be able to deposit the pickling material into the wood pore.

Botanical Polymerized Tung Oil

An environmentally friendly option for a hand rubbed, polymerized tung oil wood finish for interior use.

Our Botanical line uses the same polymerization process as all of our Tung Oil wood finishes, however the solvent used is our proprietary, all botanical, citrus solvent, DiCitrusol™. This formulation contains no petroleum solvents and is a low VOC product.

Sutherland Welles Ltd.® Botanical Polymerized Tung Oil Medium Lustre is an excellent choice to obtain a medium to semi-gloss sheen for your interior wood finishing projects. Millie’s Penetrating Tung Oil

Millie’s All-Purpose Penetrating Tung Oil is a part of our Botanical line of tung oil wood finishes.

Containing no chemical driers, Millie’s is food safe, low VOC, and our only oil formulation that allows a matte sheen. The combination of beeswax and Polymerized Tung Oil create a classic “butcher block”, food safe wood finish.

Millie’s has no chemical driers and is made using our Botanical Tung Oil and beeswax. The absence of driers make the finish our most eco friendly and user friendly product. It has a radically different application process in that the goal is completely saturate the wood pore with multiple applications that don’t require any cure time in between, when to reapply another coat is determined by when the wood has absorbed the previous coat. Most wood species require three applications to completely saturate the wood with the active application process taking only two days. Each application will take longer for the wood to absorb than the previously applied coat. The beeswax in the formulation has multiple purposes. During application it coats the wood pore allow the oil to fill the pore, not clog the pore as most wood finishes do. Once the wood is completely saturated, the beeswax acts as a barrier to keep the oil from mixing with the ambient air to harden the Tung Oil. This allows the fully saturated Tung Oil to be buffed off the surface. The beeswax helps create the beautiful low sheen with a super smooth feel. Once the finish is completely buffed off, Tung Oil needs about three days to cure before use.

Millie’s is the perfect finish for wood cooking utensils, bowls and butcher blocks that you cut on. Millie’s is also used by bowl turners who turn green wood. The piece is turned and Millie’s is applied and it’s placed in a paper bag to dry. Millie’s allows the moisture in the green wood to gently release without stressing the wood fibers that often create checking and cracking in the drying process.
