Our stair treads feature returns that are 1-1/4” wide and extend 1-1/2” past the back of the tread. To determine a left or right-hand return, you should stand at the bottom of the stairs and look up. All length measurements provided are overall, meaning they include the return(s). For example, a single-return 36'' tread has a 34-3/4” throat size, while a double-return 48” tread has a 45-1/2” throat size. Please note that stair treads and risers over 48” long may be slightly oversized with uneven ends.

The top surface of our custom-made stair treads is sanded and maintained perfectly. However, the bottom is left in its natural, potentially rough state because it will not be visible once installed. Since all stair treads are custom-made to order, any orders revised or canceled after going into production—which may occur within 24 hours after the order is received—will incur a restocking fee of up to 50%. Finally, please be aware that because each piece of wood has its own unique character, the grain and color of your treads will vary from the sample images shown.
